What’s next? Mandating that one has to eat broccoli?

Michael Bloomberg is a very sick man. I’m ashamed I voted for him. Well, considering the alternatives it was probably the best choice. Mayor Bloomberg is trying to deal with the obesity "epidemic" by banning sales of soda bottles larger than 16 oz.
“Obesity is a nationwide problem, and all over the United States, public health officials are wringing their hands saying, ‘Oh, this is terrible,’ ” Mr. Bloomberg said in an interview on Wednesday in the Governor’s Room at City Hall. “New York City is not about wringing your hands; it’s about doing something,” he said. “I think that’s what the public wants the mayor to do.” New York Plans to Ban Sale of Big Sizes of Sugary Drinks
How has it come to this? How are people take this lunacy seriously?

Remember Macaca? Now Sikh Jesus

So George Allen gets pilloried for saying macaca,

This fellow here over here with the yellow shirt, Macaca, or whatever his name is. He's with my opponent... Let's give a welcome to Macaca, here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia.

Maybe it was a racial insult. Maybe not. I never heard the word "Macaca" used as an pejorative and I doubt that many in the Washington press corp had. Still the question for George Allen is why did you use the word if it wasn't intended to be insulting? Calling someone a monkey is rarely considered to be the appropriate thing to do.

Now, a few years later, and in state not that far away from Virginia we have Phil Bailey, the Executive Director of the South Carolina Senate Democratic Caucus, calling the sitting governor, Nikki Haley, "Sikh Jesus." Mr. Bailey is not running for Governor of South Carolina but he is making statements as "hateful" as that made by George Allen and we do not hear any rumblings coming from the Washington Press Corps. Not a peep. (In case you're not aware of it Nikki Haley is the Republican Governor of South Carolina and is the daughter of Sikh immigrants.)

At roughly the same time the South Carolina AFL-CIO president Donna DeWitt was at a function and was videoed taking whacks a pinata with a picture of Niki Haley on it. I'm not particularly bothered by the video. I don't think it evil or degrading or inciting violence. It's political theatre. I'm bringing it up not for that particular act but for the lack of outrage from MSNBC, CNN and other concerned groups. Just imagine if one of the executives of Club For Growth was videoed smacking a pinata with the picture of Nancy Pelosi on it. Oh, the outrage! Oh, the angst! Oh, the humanity!

The Tea Party is Dead

The Tea Party is dead and no longer has any influence, or so I hear from my liberal friends and is so pronounced in the media.  And yet Mia Love won in Utah, Deb Fisher in Nebraska, Mourdock beat Lugar in Indiana and now Thomas Massie has won his primary race in Kentucky. The Club for Growth, the Tea Party and  lesser known PACs such as Liberty for All united to beat the Republican establishment’s candidate.    It makes me wonder if Ted Cruz is going to win his primary in Texas.

I love how the MSM keeps telling everyone that the Tea Party is dead, last year’s news, and that OWS is the future of American democracy. I hope they keep pushing  that line right up to November.  Then they can sit around wonder how an idiot like Sarah Palin has added two more mama grizzlies to her list of successes.

We know the answer the media will give for their failure – Americans are stupid. Of course we are, stupidity is the only reason there’s been push back to liberal ideas. If we were smart we would be like France or Greece.
